Welcome to the Newcomers Club of Raleigh and Wake County! The Newcomers Club is an organization that welcomes new residents to the area. Our goal and purpose is to support you in your new community and city. Newcomers Club was started in 1957 and is a non-profit, non-discriminatory organization. It is open to all individuals and/or couples who have moved to the area within the past 5 years. Joining Newcomers is an excellent way for people to meet other new arrivals and enjoy getting together for social, educational, and community activities. Activities of the Newcomers Club are organized and directed by an all-volunteer board of directors that is elected annually. The Club has approximately twenty-five Interest Groups of various types and styles to fit everyone's needs. These Groups meet throughout each month, making it possible for smaller groups of men and women to join together, share common interests, get to know one another, and to just have some fun. You will find the complete list of all of the Interest Groups in our monthly newsletter, New Horizons. Included in the newsletter is a monthly calendar of events showing the dates and times for all events. This provides you with a "memory-jogger" so you don't miss out on those events in which you want to participate. On the first Friday of each month at 10:00am, we meet for coffee to welcome our "newest" newcomers and to showcase our group to prospective members. Children are always welcome to attend!!! Our regular monthly meeting is a luncheon at a local hotel, restaurant, or country club. Each luncheon features a guest speaker or program of interest to those new to the area. Additionally, special club functions and tours are planned throughout the year. We occasionally get together with our sister organization, the Newcomers Club of Raleigh Alumni. The Newcomers Club of Raleigh aims to make your transition to the area easy and comfortable. Your involvement in the Newcomers Club of Raleigh will provide continued strength and support for those other "newcomers" who follow you. Here is your opportunity to become a part of a growing and thriving community, develop new relationships, and enjoy the friendship and fellowship of other newcomers. We welcome you to the Raleigh area and look forward to meeting you soon. |
